Luke Tappenden Level 2 IT Professional Apprentice
My name’s Luke Tappenden. After completion of my GCSEs and A Levels I left college at 18. I decided that university wasn’t the road for me and that I was going to try and find a job, a head start in the real world.
However because I didn’t have any real work experience I could only enter any job at a trainee or junior level, and those opportunities seem very rare. As the months went on I decided to try my luck with getting an apprenticeship.
It was the best decision I’ve made since I began hunting for a job. I think that employers looking for an apprentice expect applicants to have little experience.
This is why apprenticeships are great - young people can get their foot on the career ladder and learn from scratch, and employers can mold fresh new minds how they like.
I’m nearly two months into my apprenticeship and I know that I’ve got a great future ahead of me. I’m learning so much both via self discovery and from my colleagues.
