Atlas Computer Systems Ltd
Having been an apprentice in a former life I was aware how useful an apprentice could be to my new web development business but it was the services provided by the ITEC that brought this idea to life. We wanted to grow our own staff rather than take on experienced developers who may not be as committed, hardworking and flexible as young and enthusiastic people committed to learning. This vision came true and our first employee was an apprentice and still enjoys what he does here as the day he started with us. We now run an on-going programme looking for talented young apprentices and growing them with our organisation.
No two days are the same for any member of our team, and this is especially true for our apprentices. The week could begin with configuring new servers, followed by some website design and ending the week on some one-to-one time with one of our more senior developers who will take them around the latest technologies as part of their continuous training. Sure the apprentice will make the tea, but what they receive in return is life changing. Our apprentices are as openly thankful to us for the break we gave them as we are to them for the loyalty they continue demonstrate to us in return.
We continue to shout from the rooftops about the benefits the apprenticeship scheme provides us and 1000’s of other SMEs around the country.
